FAQ
Are hitcounters.net counters really FREE?
Yes, 100% free and you will never be charged. However, our counters come with a tiny text advertisement below covering our bandwidth and server costs enabling us to provide your counter free of charge. The text advertisement is so small, you won’t even notice it, (NO UGLY BANNER AD)
Advertisements? What types of advertisements will be displayed with your counter?
A small text link, no more than 25-30 characters in a small font, will appear directly under each counter. Our text links will always link to family friendly sites, unless your site has adult, gambling or possibly-offensive material. In this case, we might have advertisers that will fit better in your hitcounter.

All of our advertisers are thoroughly reviewed before we sign them up and accept their websites. Also, after you click on "Get Counter Code" we will show you how your counter is exactly going to look. If you are unhappy with the text link, just go back and click on "Get Counter Code" once more and you will be given a new counter with a different advertisement. Repeat again is necessary.

We do not allow sites with illegal content or child pornography, we will refuse them so please do not ask.
Will I be able to remove the ads on my website?
No, in order to keep the counter FREE, the small advertisement needs to exist with the counter. If you have any questions about this, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Will my counter stop working if I remove the ad or advertisement and how would you verify this?
Yes, your counter will stop working and will also display a default graphic showing that your hitcounter code needs to be re-installed. Every so often we will check to make sure our advertisement is properly in place on your website. If you have any questions about this, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Can I run my hitcounter on any hosting server?
Our hitcounter code is 100% HTML based and will run on any hosting server that processes HTML code. All you need is access to your source code on the server.
Can I use my hitcounter in e-mails?
NO! And we can catch this very quickly so please do not attempt it.
